Scotoma - I to have been somewhat amazed at the lack of evidence that the Russians and US have. It should be obvious that neither of want to release anthing of importance. I noted that Russia produced a radar image that showed a single unidentifiable aircraft in the area at the time but this took some time to come to light. I wonder why?

My intial thought was that it had been created to incriminate the Ukrainian Gov, but as the US will have been monitoring the air with airbourne radar and ground monitoring statilites but why haven't they released the info?

I will let you draw your own conclusions, but I don't think that either the Ukrainian Gov or the Pro Russian Rebels had anything to do with it, and the longer it takes to get the investigation really underway, the longer they have to remove any incriminating evidence at the scene, and both of prevent the investigation by instructing their various protagonist on the ground.

It will be a long time before we half the story, and someone can agree who will be scapegoat. Prehaps they could blame ISIS ???

I will start by confessing that I only got as pages 4 or 5 of this article, until I realised that the writer had very little knowledge of aviation navigation, squark info, or airways proceedures. He makes errors in not clarifying if the speed he refers to is true airspeed, indicated, corrected, or ground speed. He also refers to an altitude of 33,000 ft, MH17 would have been at flight level 33, and in order to determine the true altitude you need to know the barimetric pressure at the appropriate position. It must be assumed that the 490 Knots is if fact ground speed, but if had specified this any one who is familiar with airline would know that there must have been a considerable nose wind acting against the heading MH17 was following, if it was true airspeed the aircraft wouuld have dropped like a brick without the help of a missile.

If his details of the debris field are accurate it is easy to determine that there was an average 27.5 Knot northerly componate on average during the free fall of the bodies and the larger more air resistant sections of the aircraft, to the wind direct. He fails to point out that the weight or mass of an object has no relationship with it terminal velocity in free fall, and implies the reverse in the description of the spred, direction of the debris.

This report does not help in determining the true circumstances which lead to this terrible incident, and it is best to await the detailed results of what ever the investigators and their determinations conclude.

For Bible believers-Inspired Bible?

one issue i have with declaring the bible an entirely inspired work from god is the bit in the ot about killing girls who were "proven"to not be virgins on their wedding night-by stoning them.

the absence of blood on the sheet or cloak was considered entirely valid proof that they were immoral and so they were to be stoned.. that is scientifically invalid.

not all girls bleed when they lose their virginity-in fact, the more skilled the partner, the less likely that they will bleed at all.

I agree that when it comes to judging crimes and judical sentances, it is easy to use the " God would ensure justice was done" and therefore the evidence would always point to the correct verdict. However in looking up the ref for the OP I came across this verse, Deut. 23:3,

"No Ammonite or Moabite may come into the congregation of Jehovah. Even to the tenth generation none of theirs may come into the congregation of Jehovah to time indefinite."

If this is the ruling of God in order not to dilute the pure Hebrew lineage, why does God ignore his this rule by anointing a fourth generation Moabite king of the united monarchy, namely David? This also means that the first five kings of Judea and Israel were never part of the congregation of Jehovah, which raises some interesting questions.

The OT is with out doubt inspired, but not by Jehovah. IMO it is inspired by the leaders of the post exile Judeans, in as much as the redaction and creation of this collection of books achieved the objective of the redactors. That is that during the long period of persian, greek, selucid, and then roman domination of their "state hood" the OT created the instrument that the religious and elite of the Judaite and Israelite returnees post exile, used to encourage the people to take up the concept of "people hood" as apposed to the restoration of "monarchy". In this way the OT has truely suceeded down to this day as the Jewish people continue to use the sense of people hood to make themselves a lobby in many countries.

I would also say that the weaving of the NT and use of mythical, pesher,midrash, and true events was one of the most inspired works of all time (just look at the net yield in terms of money), again though conceived by, and cleverly written by eductated elite with the purpose of taking the great wealth availble with the Jewish communities living outside of Judea. Creation of a personnel fortune for the early christain leaders and a significant political power base by the Jewish elite without the need for the temple as the central focus, they took the ideals of "people hood" to a new financial level.

All in all very clever and very inspired, but God had nothing to do with it.

In regard to Kepler post and his very good explaination of time dilation due to velocity variations, whilst I agree that photons experience time as an infite expansion and therefore to them there is no time. However the interesting point is that if a zero value for v/c there is a halt in time, if the escape velocity require to leave a black hole which must be greater than c while give a solution that is an imaginary/complex number, and does this prove the existance of a 5th or/and 6th dimension as it does in maths? Or do we just regard this as a necessary function change?

Viviane - What ever you may believe c is, it is definned by the scientific community as a constant in a vacum on this planet that is equal to 2.998x10^8 metres per second. Seconds are a measurement of time are they not ? Enery is measured in Joules which are again defined as gram metres squared per second squared. Time in seconds appears on both sides of this equation E=mc^2. If you can not accept this fact I suggest you write a new set of laws to explain the basics of physics and chemistry.
